Jim & Kevin: An Alternate Timeline

Image for heading
I was watching the scene in episode s02e04 "The Fire", and the part where Jim says he would do Kevin got me thinking about an alternate timeline where that was an earnest expression of Jim's feelings for Kevin and where it's not Pam and Roy's engagement which stands in the way of Jim's happiness, but Kevin's engagement to Stacey.
So in this timeline Jim and Pam are still friends due to their obvious rapport and proximity in the office. The 'Trying to cop a feel, Halpert?!' incident still happens, but in order to help with Roy's jealousy - and to help her deal with her feelings for Jim - Pam tells him that Jim is gay, and so the 'I know you're a cool guy' scene between Roy and Jim becomes 'I'm sorry man - I know you're gay and I was just being a jealous jerk'. Jim's homosexuality leads to Pam's infatuation with him being a one-way street, and causes her deep and confusing feelings of sadness.
Many of Jim's cute moments in meetings involve Kevin instead of Pam - it's Jim who falls asleep on Kevin's shoulder, and Jim often goes to chat at Kevin's desk, using the M&Ms as an excuse, just like with reception. At the Casino Night s02e22 Jim confesses his love for Kevin instead of for Pam, with Kevin replying 'What are you doing? What do you expect me to say to that? I'm engaged.' They kiss at the end of the episode.
Kevin doesn't become the comically overemphasised idiot that he does in the primary timeline, but breaks off his engagement for the beginning of series 3. All the events around Oscar in Gay Witch Hunt s03e01 are about Kevin instead and it's Kevin who gets a 3-month 'gaycation'. In this timeline Oscar either doesn't realise or come out as gay, or is straight.
After being rebuked by Kevin, Jim goes through with the transfer to Stamford. While there, he develops a relationship not with Karen but with Andy - who, as we've seen in the primary timeline, has been questioning and dealing with insecurity around his own orientation for years. When the merger happens things are not immediately awkward as Kevin is still away, and has been using the three months to try and get over Jim, his broken-off engagement and to come to terms with who he is.
Pam and Roy go through with their wedding in between series 2 and 3. They are both essentially happy, and Roy never hits the 'rock bottom' he does in the primary timeline. He also consequently never has to work on himself to try and win her back, and doesn't attack Jim. Roy is the one in the warehouse who receives a promotion and gets the office upstairs, and so stays at Dunder Mifflin - never starting the gravel company, meeting his future wife nor learning to play the piano.
When Kevin does return to the office he is thrown to see Jim there, and is hit hard when he sees that Jim is with Andy. Much of Jim's story in season 3 revolves around this love triangle, and in the end he decides to leave Andy in the season finale. Jim and Kevin finally get together during season 4, and eventually marry by eloping not to Niagra Falls but to Iceland, which had a referendum on same-sex marriage in 2006.
All is well, except with Andy. The rejection by Jim and Jim's openly choosing Kevin over him causes Andy's anger issues to boil over and it is he who attacks Jim in the office after staying up all night drinking. He is dismissed from the company and is thus forced into showbusiness, where he becomes a successful performer and not simply an ironic YouTube success.
So there we have it - what do you think? What potential plotholes have I missed?

47 Weeks!

formatting and langauge is gonna suck, I apologize in advance. 329 days ago I got paid and did what I did every Wednesday night after work got hammered. On my drive home,(about 130 am) drunk me wanted to leave before the bars closed and the cops were out I also thought it would be a good idea to drive. I digress, I missed the exit on the highway that I needed to take, so instead of taking next exit and backtracking I drove 15 more minutes down the highway to the casino. Where I proceeded to losing all of money (literally every penny I had) at the blackjack table. Now its 4 am. I had never felt a level of so much despair and self loathing. The full weight of 17 years of hard drinking had hit me so hard it took my breath away. Now when I make my way to the parking lot holding back a Niagra Falls amount of tears behind my eyes, I cant find my fucking car. I spent the next two hours looking for my car in a casino parking lot. A big ass casino parking lot. Its 6 am now and I have found my car. The roller coaster of emotions that I have been riding on all night has somewhat sobered me up, is what I told myself. The 25 minute drive home was one of most miserable expierences ever. Its now 7 am and I am avoiding my roommate because I owed him money that I did not have. I messaged everyone in immediate family begging them to check me into a rehab. They informed me that only I could check myself into rehab. I do some research on rehabilitation centers. they are expensive if you dont have insurance (which I did not have, because most all my money was going to beers and booze first). well shit. Its Thursday night now and I go into work with not only a physical hangover but an emotional one as well, the latter was one I had never truly expierenced before it was my rock bottom. Friday morning I sought help through AA. I went in broken down and defeated. I was welcomed with nothing but love and kindess, a genuine love and feeling of compassion. I had never felt that before and especially not from strangers. I share my expierence because I gain strength from reading and listening to others expierences, and man was December rough but we did it. Now when I reflect upon this expierence I can be thankful that it happened because that is what it took to open my eyes to how far I had slid down. In the 329 days since all that I have made a full 180 degree turn in life. I regonize emotions and albeit I do not know how to properly deal with them in a healthy manner yet I am getting help for it because I asked for help. I am not running from my problems anymore, I am not always running towards them but I am addressing them. These feelings I get sometimes are strange and bewhildering but they are beautiful because I feel them! They are not just washed away in river of beer ending in a sea of liquor. They are being felt and expierenced instead of being numbed away or forgotten. There so many other positives too! So I just got keep on keepin on. I love y'all and have a kick ass new year doing kick ass things! I will not drink with you today.

The pure bliss of a childfree space

So my Ma took my sister and I to niagra falls for the weekend. We live like 3 hours away so its not super far but still fun anytime we go. As pqrt of our summer vacation we decided hey why not go to the casino and play 20 bucks on some machines. We got in, played a bit, then immediately went for supper at the casino buffet. While my sister and i were sitting there we were struck by how reasonable the volume was in there... and then we both came to the conclusion at around the same time... it's because there were no kids there.
We were able to have conversations at a reasonable volume and eat without having our eardrums shredded. We were able to walk up to the buffet line without having to worry about running into kids and come and sit back down without worrying about tripping or spilling anything on them.
Compare this to the next day during our hotel breakfast when we encountered no less than 3 screaming children and you couldn't have had a better poster for choosing a childfree life.

Bachelor Party Recommendations

I'm planning a bachelor party for my soon to be brother-in-law and six of our friends next month in Niagra Falls, CAN. We only have a day and a half before we head over to Buffalo for a Bills game but I'd like to make the most of our time.
What I already have planned: Air BnB near Clifton Hill, Journey Behind the Falls/Hornblower tour, Clifton Hill amusement park, and some time at one of the casinos.
Looking for recommendations on: nice restaurant for dinner, preferred casino, bars to hit up, bars to avoid, breweries to check out, strip clubs and anything else 8 guys in their 20's would enjoy.
Also were coming from NY so any information on crossing the border would be great.

Hello, new to the city. a couple friends and I have come to Toronto to visit a few places, and we want to go down to Niagra Falls for the day to see the attractions, eat, visit the casino for a short while and of course, see the falls. We are planning it for a weekend (leave Saturday morning, come back Saturday night to Toronto) since we work through the week. My question is what is the best way to travel down there from union station on a Saturday? Will taking the gotrain be sufficient to take us there and back in one day? We don't know if booking a hotel would be worth the money and want to make sure we get back to our places in Toronto safely.
EDIT: if it is gotrain, would we be taking the Eastbound towards Toronto to Niagra?

Any suggestions for fun or unique places to stay after just getting engaged?

I (35M) live in CT and I plan on proposing in Feb/March to my GF (34). I'm looking for a cool place to stay after I pop the question. Not looking to spend a ton of money, stay long, or travel very far.
Traditional bed and breakfasts are a little boring at this age. We have two Casinos in CT and have been there many times so that's not too unique. And the run of the mill traditional spa thing doesn't sound too exciting either. And neither of us ski or board so a sking trip doesn't make a ton of sense. I was looking into hot springs, but traveling to one doesn't seem to be an option. I was also thinking of fun winter related places, or themed quirky hotels. Just something memorable and original. If anybody has any good ideas or had any cool experiences I'd live to hear em! We're both very open minded, and she is not a girly girl at all, but she does appreciate romance.
So far I'm leaning towards going to Niagra Falls, but I'm not sure we'll be able to get passports in time.
Oh as a side note, she wants a outdoor, simple, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves style wedding haha.
TL;DR; : looking for cool places to stay after getting engaged

Update On My Cutman Working

Hey mma I was going to do this a little later that what I intend to now. Been busy doing more regional amateur mma shows.
Had a show in Syracuse a few weeks ago where I worked the main event and wrapped a few fighters hands before their fights. My fighter ended up getting a small cut. Just enough to bleed and pump. First cut I've had where I didn't stop the bleed between the rounds. Rather disappointed in myself. I know it always happens. She's fine. I don't think it even needed a stitch in reality.
Had another show in Rochester where I ended working the corner for two fights. Fairly straight forward. One guy had a fingernail graze under his eye. Just passed the first two layers of skin and was a little bleeder. However that night, had a guy with a massive cut. He was from Pennslyvenia if I am not mistaken. I think it was from an elbow. Nice gash over his left eye. Fight ended up getting called because of the cut. Also watched a guy take two jabs, kick to jaw, get knocked to the ground, mounted and pretty sure that first shot to the face broke his jaw. He's fine. Jaw is wired shut now.
Nothing special at the regional shows in Ontario. Lots and lots of hands wrapped. Had a card on the weekend where a guy had his nose broke so I ended up attempting to realign it. Looked straighter.
Had provincial qualifiers three weeks back. Forgot how much of a pain in the butt wrapping hands by yourself is.
This weekend I've got the hometown card to work, which I always enjoy. I'll have my teammate with me so it's nice that I can only have to focus on one corner to wrap and hopefully get cage side to do some greasing and possible cage time.
Weekend after I am working the King of the Cage card in Niagra Falls New York. Pretty stoked for this card. As it stands I've got two fights I'm working, with the possibility of two more, one of them being a pro fight (they're getting around the rules because it's being held on a native casino and resort)
After that? shows in Ottawa, Provincials, another show in Rochester, another show in White Hall New York, and a show in Toronto.
Look MMA/ Muay Thai/BJJ store is making me my own custom cutman shirt. Should be here in a few weeks. Totally excited for it. got to thank Ring Royalty for that.
However my main reason to posting now;
March 26th, there's a show in St. Louis. The cutman in charge is the head cutman of Bellator. I've been invited down to work the show under him and hopefully be able to absorb and learn a few things that I can bring back and disseminate through the the leagues around here trying to keep fighters safe and in for another round. Problem is, is finances. I've started a gofund me and I was hoping mma could help. Just whatever you felt like chipping in. Every dollar is appreciated.

and like usual, if you're on facebook, please go like my page cutman yeoman and see what I've been up to

First time heading to Canada. Looking for some input.

So next week myself and a few friends (ages 19-21) are heading up North during our school break.
Our itinerary is pretty much Niagra Falls and Falls Casino, then _______ the next day, then Toronto that night, drive home on the third day.
What should we look into in the region to do during the day? (I'm really into the outdoors but I'm guessing we've got to go elsewhere for that) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Also, any specific pubs or cafe's we should hit during our night in Toronto? Live music is desirable, but anything with a chill atmosphere will do.
Help me my Canadian brethren?

[WEEKEND RECAP] Burns vs Crawford, Salido vs Lomachenko, Chavez Jr vs Vera, Budler vs Diaz, Saengthep vs Kogawa + more

Thursday February 27

From The Conference & Event Center, Niagra Falls, New York

Greg Brady stopped Joel Shojgreen in 2 rounds

This isn’t the Brady you’re thinking of.

Friday February 28

From Horseshoe Casino, Hammond, Indiana

Raymond Gatica stopped Sena Agbeko in the 4th round to advance to the quarterfinals in the Boxcino middleweight tournament

For a guy with 15 pro fights, Agbeko has in terrible condition for this fight. He looked gassed early on and it wasn’t tough for Gatica to find the mark and tag him often. The end came in the 4th round. Gatica had Agbeko in the corner and unloaded everything in the kitchen sink. Agbeko hardly had the strength to keep his hands up and the referee stepped in to stop the action.

Willie Monroe Jr won a 6 round unanimous decision over Donatas Bondorovas

Vitaliy Kopylenko stopped Cerresso Fort in the 2nd round

The 2nd round began with both fighters coming to the center, Kopylenko shot a heavy jab to the chin on Fort and down went Fort. Fort got up and tried to engage but was countered with power shots with every opening he created and the referee called off the bout when Fort rose to his feet was clearly on spaghetti legs (not al dente, either.)

Brandon Adams stopped Daniel Edouard in the 4th round

It looked to me like Edouard would be able to outbox Adams with his long reach. A short counter left hook from Adams was the beginning of the end in the 4th. Adams dropped Edouard with the left and continued to find it and mix his punches up to stop Edouard.
From Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona, New York

J’Leon Love stopped Vladine Biosse in the 10th and final round

Derek Edwards stopped Badou Jack by technical knockout in the 1st round

It appeared that Derek Edwards saw on gaping hole in Badou Jack’s game and decided that that was the one and only play he had. If he had hoped to win, he’d have to use that hail mary every chance he got. A lazy Badou Jack and Edwards would counter with a thunderous overhand right directly on the chin. You can tell from the opening bell that he was looking for it. It connected flush with the force that just about every super middleweight out there would have buckled from. Yet another Mayweather Promotions fight gets upset.

Christopher Pearson won a split decision over Lanardo Tyner

Imagine you’re Floyd Mayweather sitting in the crowd watching the guys you promote and you might have the upcoming interview with Showtime to promote your next fight. One guy gets sick and another gets bumped up on the card. He’s an experienced young fighter with solid amateur experience and heavy hands. My take on Pearson is that he throws more of a “stay back” jab that doesn’t have a ton of power behind it and when he faces guys like Tyner who’s gameplan is to take away the outside game and keep the fight inside, he will struggle. Guys who come forward and want to fight ear to ear need to have their heads jabbed off to convince them that coming inside is too dangerous.

Saturday March 1

From GETEC Arena, Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany

Arthur Abraham won the WBO super middleweight title defeating Robert Stieglitz by split decision

Abraham rallied and did enough work to upset the reigning WBO super middleweight champion. It may as well be the European championship though because the real title belongs to Andre Ward. Anyway, Abraham looks reborn at age 34 if you catch my drift.
From World Trade Center, Naucalpan, Mexico

Fernando Angulo stopped Pablo Cesar Cano in the 9th round due to a cut

Pablo Cesar Cano is one of the toughest guys out there and I love to watch this kid fight. He’s got a heart as big as the HBO truck, but his skin is rice paper thin. Despite his tremendous heart and talent, it may not be wise for Cano to continue boxing. Check out these pictures. This is consistently happening to the kid. Look at the referee’s face when he looks at Cano and stops it.
From Scottish Exhibition Centre, Glasgow, Scotland, UK

Terence Crawford won the WBO lightweight title from Ricky Burns by UD

Crawford went into hostile territory and boxed a beautiful 12 rounds to decisively win the lightweight title. Unless Burns is completely done, and I don’t think he is, Crawford put on a master performance which elevated the American to the top spot in the lightweight division. Burns definitely had a ton of excuses already pre-built into the fight, but after the fight he was all praises for Crawford.

John Murray stopped John Simpson by TKO2

Simpson hit the deck 3 times in the 2nd round before the referee waved off the contest. Simpson was coming off a tough KO against Derry Mathews.

Anthony Ogogo won on points against Greg O’Neill.

Anthony Joshua knocked Hector Alfredo Avila out in 1 round.

A quick win for the big guy.
From City Academy Sports Centre, Bristol, Avon, UK

James DeGale stopped Gevorg Khatchikian in the 11th round

A good win for DeGale who continues to build himself into super middleweight contention.
From Emperors Palace, Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa

Hekkie Budler won the WBA world minimumweight title against Karluis Diaz by KO1

An easy win for Budler and a unification fight with number one rated Katsunari Takayama seems imminent.
From Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr won a unanimous decision over Brian Vera

Chavez Jr looked like the guy who almost upset the middleweight champion of the world. In fact, he looked a little better. He definitely has the same old Chavez Jr weight advantage that we’ve seen in the past, but his timing improved. He was able to tag Vera with the same punches over and over and decisively win the fight this time. The saving grace for Vera is that he appeared to hurt his hand very early in the fight and it was obvious. He stopped sitting on his punches around the 4th round and that’s about the time Chavez Jr really began to assert himself in the fight. Aside from the final round, which was a joke, Chavez Jr looked impressive and ready to start fighting other contenders in… I guess the super middleweight division if that’s where he’s going to stay.

Orlando Salido won via split decision over Vasyl Lomachenko

I can’t remember a prospect that turned pro with more hype than Lomachenko. I can’t remember a debut that was as electrifiying as Lomachenko’s was. I was excited. I thought history could be made if he was matched up correctly, given he hasn’t had much experience against the more rugged pro styles. Then the Bradley-Marquez card comes along. Salido battered Orlando Cruz and there were rumblings that Lomachenko would go after Salido in his second career fight. I groaned. What a mistake! I thought, we’ve all fallen in love with the idea and the potential upside of this Ukrainian winning machine. We’ve become blind to reality. On Saturday, reality hit hard. Reality does not play by any rules other than the ones it sets. Reality came in the form of low blows, hits during the clinch with the free arm, and a weight it felt comfortable at rather than the weight that was agreed upon.
Lomachenko learned a valuable lesson. One could make the argument that he learned mid fight and didn’t adjust in time. The very thing that made people hesitant to crown Lomachenko as the heir to the featherweight throne, inexperience, would be that which would lead to his defeat. Lomachenko can find solace in the fact that he was the better man that night, and perhaps if he was the man a year from now after a couple of learning fights, he would have possibly stopped Salido with all his advantages.
The reality of the night was that Salido took away what made Lomachenko great. He instilled fear in Lomachenko. Fear of the headbutt. Lomachenko became hesitant to throw body shots and work on the inside. He had nothing to do other than clinch. Salido didn’t win the outside game, but his inside work was what won him the fight. I felt Lomachenko did enough to have an argument for the fight, and his tremendous heart at the end of the fight where he turned up intensity and let it all hang out certainly closed the gap. To quote Mark Twain in a half-assed way that I’m sure he would approve of, the report of Lomachenko’s loss have been greatly exaggerated. He showed everything I needed to see to be optimistic about his future. (For the record, I was never sold on Lomachenko and I thought Salido was beat him.)

Juan Diaz won a UD over Gerardo Robles

Diaz didn’t look in shape, and frankly his performance was underwhelming. Still, he did enough to beat an overmatched opponent.

Oscar Valdez stopped Samuel Sanchez in the 3rd round

Valdez came out and did what he does best. He took his time and broke Sanchez down. Sanchez was game, but his defense made Valdez look like a surgeon. Valdez began to land heavy shots that were wobbling Sanchez every time they landed. The stoppage was a bit controversial as the referee stepped in after a left wobbled Sanchez and called it off.

Jose Zepeda scored a 2nd round stoppage over Johnnie Edwards

Zepeda is a little irresponsible on defense. I feel a quick fighter can catch him, but he’s thus far compensated with terrific footwork and a good amount of power. Zepeda scored the easy stoppage over Edwards.

Alex Saucedo won a UD over Gilbert Venegas

Venegas was brought in to test Saucedo. He certainly did. Saucedo looked like a guy who was in a fight. He paid for his recklessness and while he won easy on the cards, it wasn’t an easy fight. Saucedo is still very green and needs more seasoning.

Tuesday March 4

From Suranaree Army Camp Stadium, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand

Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep won a majority decision and the interim WBA world flyweight title over Takuya Kogawa

If you haven't yet, check out the Canelo-Angulo viewing guide and the weekend previews will be out tomorrow.
